PLACEMENTWhy is the stamp upside-down?/This bottom stamp looks fakeOn all classic brass cases (the majority of Zippo windproof lighters), bottom stamps are oriented to be read from the hinge side to the non-hinge side – i.e., from left to right when the hinge is on the reader’s left side. However, some alternate case types (such as 1935 Replica, 1941 Replica, sterling silver Slim® and Armor® models) may feature an inversely oriented bottom stamp. COLORWhy is one of my matte lighters brass but another one is chrome? While the majority of our powder-coated or matte lighters utilize a brass base model, we often repurpose chrome models that have cosmetic imperfections instead of discarding them. For example, a small scratch or blemish might stop a High Polish Chrome case from passing its stringent visual quality inspection while meeting all functional criteria. Our durable powder-coat finish is then applied, which covers any nicks or flaws, and the lighter is saved from the scrapyard.
